One of the key changes that helped commerce develop in China was the use of paper money or banknotes. For your homework in history read and review the page on paper money at the BBC website and then answer the questions below. Write your answers in complete sentences on paper. This assignment is due Tuesday, Jan 22.
First review the website's content. Select the banknote's picture and look it over. Then listen to radio broadcast about the banknote. It lasts about 15 minutes. If you're not able to listen to it, you can read the transcript instead.
Afterwards, answer the questions below in complete sentences. Type up your answers in MLA format. You can number them.
Questions:
How much was the Ming dynasty banknote pictured on the BBC website worth? Where did you find this information.
Who was Zhu Yuanzhang? Why is he important? How is he connected to the banknote on the BBC website?
How trustworthy should we consider the opinions of Timothy Brook to be?
What was "flying cash?" Who first used it? How did it work?
How is this banknote connected to our class theme change? Explain which of our four aphorisms it illustrates?
Explain what paper money has in common with the story of Peter Pan.
Describe three advantages paper money has over coins.
When the Ming dynasty first issues paper money in 1374, what challenges did the new paper currency face?
For extra credit: Look up another object from the same period as the Ming Dynasty banknote. Read about it and describe it in two or three sentences. Inlcude a quick sketch of it or include a picture of it.

Are we allowed to number our answers as long as they are complete sentences? I'm still confused with MLA format, even when I looked at my packet.

Is this supposed to be in a paragraph or just the answer in a complete question? Hattie, you have to have MLA format with the heading and Work Cited
For question #6 can it be obvious like "they used money to make it." -----------------------jjjjjjjjjaaaaaaaaaacccccccccckkkkkkkkkk
For question number 3, are we supposed to give reasons or can you just say whether his opinion is trustworthy or not?

Karen, I think the change he is talking about is change is fast or slow, change is inevitable, and so on. If that is not it, than I am also confused. :l
